BEHIND THE DESIGN: The Perfect Pear
In February 2023, the Little English design team embarked on an exciting journey to Paris, France, to attend the Premier Vision Fabric Show. This prestigious event is a cornerstone for designers worldwide, and we were thrilled to meet with vendors we had previously only ever communicated with via email. The show was a resounding success, but it was the discoveries we made outside the exhibition hall that truly made this trip unforgettable.
One of the highlights of our visit was uncovering the fabric for our Perfect Pear collection. After the fabric show, our team decided to extend our stay in Paris to soak up some design inspiration and, of course, indulge in a bit of shopping. Wandering through a charming antique market, we were enchanted by the paintings, exquisite chairs, vases, and other treasures on display.
As we strolled, our eyes were drawn to a shop window showcasing stunning vintage designer dresses. Intrigued, we stepped inside and were immediately captivated. While the designer dresses, which required gloves to handle, were indeed fabulous, it was what we found on the back wall that truly captured Shannon and my attention.
There, hanging in sheet protectors from floor to ceiling, was a vast collection of vintage fabrics. The array included plaids, florals, character prints, and more, each one more beautiful than the last. Some were large swatches of fabric, while others were small cuts with handwritten pricing information dating back years. It was a true treasure trove, and we couldn't resist diving in.
With excitement and determination, Shannon and I got on our hands and knees and began our search. I started at one end, and Shannon at the other, until we met in the middle, our arms full of our favorite finds. Among them was the vintage pear fabric, which instantly felt like it belonged with Little English. The print was charming, nostalgic, and a perfect nod to back-to-school season without resorting to the typical apple motif.
I am thrilled to share that this very print has made its way into our Fall 2024 line. The Perfect Pear collection is a testament to our love for vintage finds and our dedication to bringing unique, timeless designs to our customers.
